One of the interesting sites for updates on electric vehicles that we don’t normally consider is the German site Spiegel.de. In this article, they discuss an upcoming vehicle from Toyota that should give a 375 mile range, done by recharging with hydrogen a fuel cell to make the electric power for the car. Toyota’s aim is to be price competitive with other electric cars. See: http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/toyota-develops-new-fuel-cell-car-a-930834.html

Great article Rich! i think it’s important that people realize that electricity-powered cars are like two times more efficient than gasoline powered cars and that the electricity can come from pre-charged batteries (eg, Telsa Model S, Nissan Leaf) but also as you point out a fuel cell (hydrogen input – electricity output). My current (wishlist) source is an onboard bio-diesel powered generator and with the source of the bio-diesel being industrial hemp or switchgrass (or perhaps algae:-).
