Post by: todd.dore on December 04, 2010, 07:46:42 AM
The 1st production Volt is for sale to the highest bidder.  The bidding closes on Dec. 14th.

Does anyone have at least $250k laying around they can spare?

In a word - no!  I don't even have $41,000 laying around - looks like a nice car though!

I can't get the link open to place my bid!!!
Guess I'll wait for it to hit the showrooms.

I can handle $1, i'm in!  It appears that the vehicle will meet its promise of being on the road in 2010.

I was told by an engineer at the Michigan Volt battery plant that the first one will go to President Barrack Obama.

This car's VIN is 1G1RD6E4BU100002 maybe Barrack is getting 1G1RD6E4BU100001?

Ted L- I didn't see your guess?

i'm going to high-ball it with a guess just short of 1/2 million, say 475k!

Personally, i think the volt and other vehicles like it (series hybrids) are just what transportation needs now... pure electric for short (common) trips and the ability to extend range using gasoline (or whatever generator fuel the future brings).   If the bidders on the first volt agree with how significant an advancement this is, i can easily see the bids going higher.  'twould help if the car was actually already in showrooms though...
