Chevy Volt 2012
« on: April 06, 2021, 10:12:49 PM »
I learned this week that my son no longer needs my 2012 Chevy Volt with 85K miles.  I got an appraisal from Carmax for  4K and I will be selling it this week if I get no takers from FVEAA.
I learned today from Currie Chevy of Forest Park Il that Castle Chevrolet of Villa Park put in the wrong part and Currie could fix the check engine light for $650.  Currie also told me I should go back to Castle with Currie documentation to say the repair they did two months ago was the wrong part.  Castle refused and I decided to sell the car rather than get mad at Castle.
Sorry for the long message, but it is good car and if my son needed  it I would spend the $650 to repair charging system.  Right now it runs in generator and regenerative mode.
I live in Hillside IL, I  can bring it to you if are interested. 708-236-0272

Tim,

I can't help but wonder if we can find the part needed in a junk yard for a fair bit less than dealer prices.  Do you have the break down on parts / vs labor?  I know you are looking to sell it, but I am a curious guy and I would imagine someone in the club might want this car, and if needed we might be able to help out fixing it.

If you don't have any luck, I am interested in buying / fixing it and driving it for a while.

Jeff

Jeff these are the part #'s  22922225 Tank Battery Kit. and 19260759. Connector sensor. I am expecting a call from Currie soon as they are also interested.  It would be great to have it go to an FVEAA, especially someone  concerned to make sure it stays on the road.  I have attached Carmax's appraisal sheet.  I am keeping it in the garage until I sell it and only the 7 day appraisal date as my restriction. I or my wife should be home if you want to talk 708-236-0272

Currie  Chevrolet was more interested in me buying a car.  Unless you Jeff or someone else in the club really wants it, I think I am going to sell it to Carmax on Friday.

Rob and I looked at this Volt last night and Rob bought it.  Thanks Tim!

I will probably start a thread about it's issue and the way we go about solving that, and you can expect a presentation about it too.
