New form of EV transportation.
« on: April 07, 2009, 11:49:10 AM »
Here is a link to a youtube presentation of a gyroscopic, motorized skateboard.  If you find your kids/grandkids think EV's are ho hum,
point them in this direction.

His first model was a one-wheel prototype, that looked a little clunky.  This one looks close to merchantable.

This must be the morning for strange, new EV's.  Autoblog is reporting that Segway and GM will introduce a new, two passenger EV, with
speeds up to 35 MPH, and a range of up to 35 miles in Lithium batteries.  Oh, and in the Segway tradition, it uses primarily only two
wheels, balancing by electronics and gyroscopic action.  It's called  Project P.U.M.A. (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility).  It is expected to communicate with others around it to enhance traffic flow and reduce accidents.  Expected cost:  one third or one quarter of what it would cost for a small car.  It is expected to be shown this week in New York.  Watch for more press announcements.

Meet George Jetson....  Looks like a combo of an attack wheelchair, ferris-wheel car and a rickshaw :-)  If Segway's cost $2-4k, what will this contraption cost ?  Certainly could park a whole bunch of them in tight spaces :-)
