Open source hardware EV electronics!
« on: January 15, 2011, 06:31:56 PM »
i happened upon this excellent site, which amongst other things, shows you how to build your own high power controller for not a lot of money!    i plan to get involved with this group of folks and make some of the projects to use and show FVEAAers.  Perhaps we could have a EV electronics SIG that meets locally occasionally to work on such projects together.

Yea, this is pretty good stuff, and Paul -- the guy driving most of it... ah-hem, sorry -- seems to be a nice guy.  He is a teacher (maybe elementary school?) who decided to get into EV's and made amazing progress, along with some help from the EV community.   (you might have seen posts on EVDL and EVTech)

There is also an on-going thread (a lot to read, but informative and funny at times) and Paul's hardware page if you are interested.

I am intending to make one of these controllers, after my two Curtis controllers let out the magic smoke.  I have not had time to do it yet, also they were switching out to new power components the last time I checked in.  I think I'll see how that plays out before buying the components.

Do I hear a local "Revolt" group build?
