Remotely located home solar
« on: April 11, 2018, 01:28:20 PM »
I had lunch with a future member yesterday and when I was chewing he told me about a bunch of new solar stuff specific to Illinois.

I haven't read all these links yet but will later.  The general idea is that we as home owners can put a panel anywhere on Comed's grid and tell Comed it is our panel.  From what I understood I could then do net metering as if that panel was on my house.  I find this very interesting!  In theory if I were to move to a different house in Comed land, I would be "taking my solar with me".  I will be looking into this more over time and I might be able to convince the future member to come out and present to us on this topic at some future date.  He already drives a Volt, and is waiting for a more affordable full EV SUV to hit the market.

Sponsoring a solar panel, sounds similar to charitable donation to sponsor a child. Intriguing!!!
