Photo of the GS Yuasa Batteries from the 787 "smoke" incident
« on: January 19, 2013, 03:04:26 PM »

Boeing 787 Dreamliner has had several reported incidents in the very recent past where the batteries were reported as "creating smoke in the cockpit"  The lithium ion battery shown on the left is from the cockpit of the 787

When I initially heard reports of grounding of all 787's I wondered if folks were overreacting.

When I see the remains of the battery, I don't see smoke.  I see much more than a little smoke.

This "smoke" occurred while the plane was in the air, and the battery was in the pilot's cockpit.

Frightening.

Apparently, they've been working on things:

Boeing's Conner feels good about 787 'fix'
