As sponsor of the Electric Vehicle Deployment Act, Biggert will tour Pioneer Conversions, a local company that converts economy cars into electric vehicles.  Biggert’s bill aims to fast track access to electric vehicle infrastructure through a competitive grant process and provide incentives for the production of electric components. 

“If we’re ever to break our addiction to expensive foreign oil, we’re going to have to give a jump start to sound alternatives.  Consumers want to enjoy a cheaper, gas-free commute, but they need access to safe, reliable electric vehicles.  I’m looking forward to getting a behind-the-scenes look at Pioneer Conversions and learning more about what they’re doing to increase access to electric cars here at the local level.”

During the visit of US Congresswoman, she drove one of our electric vehicles (John Jeide's Sparrow) and rode in another (Dave Habiger's Boxster).  She is very enthused about electric power, and really enjoyed both drives.

 Thanks to the folks at Pioneer Conversions in Lemont for allowing me to test drive some of the cars they converted into electric vehicles.

 I enjoyed taking a ride in one of the sporty electric vehicles at Pioneer Conversions in Lemont.
